Virgin Stays on Top

The 40 Year-Old Virgin was #1 again at the box office beating out Matt Damon's new confusing-looking flick, The Brothers Grimm.

Virgin was on top with about $16.3 million
BG was a close second with $15.1 million followed by
Red Eye in third with $10.1 million
Four Brothers in fourth with $7.9 million and
The Cave in fifth with $6.15 million in its opening weekend.

The total box office take is down vs. last year and Hollywood is still lamenting about The Slump. Recently, there was a survey about why people aren't going to the movies this year and it's because the movies suck. That plus the availability of dvds, netflix (ease), flat-screen tvs and home entertainment centers. But a lot of movies do suck. So there.

Ehren Kruger wrote the Brothers Grimm (he also wrote The Skeleton Key and The Ring) but all sorts of non-sense from the director to typical Miramax interference probably contributed to the so-so opening of Mattie's latest movie. Plus, he was wearing some freaky side-burns and weird overly-fluffy hair. Read that he was also supposed to wear a big fake nose a la Nicole Kidman in the Hours but the director claims it would've made Matt Damon look like a young Brando. Hmm, some magic nose.
